Increase speed and reliability mounting SMB volumes on Snow Leopard.

First of all, this works pretty well for me. Maybe this is not going to work for you.

I have many M$ servers that I need to access. I noticed a slow directory listing on my Snow Leopard
(10.6.5 – 10.6.7). The dir listing was slow in Finder.
Please unmount all existing smb volumes before continuing.

What I did was alter, or create the following file :
/etc/nsmb.conf and ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf

The file should include :

[default]
streams=no
notify_off=yes

If you have speed issues, and or slow directory listing in Finder regarding SMB volumes I
advice you to try this config.
